JOB SUMMARY

The Social Worker serves young children with Developmental Disabilities in the home, and community settings ages 0-3.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Conducts intakes, gathers social histories, and coordinates community resources for families.
  • Completes all required data entry at intake to start child’s electronic file.
  • Screen and/or evaluate the development skills of children referred to the Infant Toddler program. Evaluations will be completed following all Part C requirements.
  • Schedules and coordinates all eligibility evaluations, including staff needed to perform evaluations, for assigned quadrants.
  • Provides direct services and consultation services to families in the program. All services will be provided in the child’s home or other natural setting.
  • Collaborate with other team members in gathering and sharing evaluation information and in planning for the service needs of families enrolled in the program. First priority will be given to goals set by the families.
  • Participates in the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) Team for each child in the program to achieve the educational and developmental goals provided by Kansas Infant Toddler services up to transition Part B.
  • Assist families with family related needs such as making appointments, educational opportunities, finding appropriate housing, assisting with employment opportunities and medical services.
  • Assist in recruiting families to the program through collaboration with community partners.
  • When needed leads weekly team meetings for assigned quadrant.
  • Maintains documentation as required in a timely manner.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Provides services following the Mission and Key Principles outlined by Kansas Infant Toddler Services.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and implementation of current research based practices in the field of early intervention.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work required.
  • Current Kansas Licensure, BSRB license.
  • Prior experience working with children with special needs preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

JOB TYPE: This position has the option to work 220 or 201 days per year (1760 hours or 1,608 hours annually)

WORK PACE: Self-paced, requiring the ability to think and act quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in homes, and community settings as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: May require frequent extended work days. Requires some travel between RUI sites, family homes, and other community agencies.

Sitting: 6 – 7 hours in an 8-hour work shift; may occasionally alternate to standing or walking.

Standing: 1 – 2 hours in an 8-hour work shift.  Alternates to sitting on a frequent basis

Walking: 1/2 – 1 hour in an 8-hour work shift.
