SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall daily activities, success, problem-solving, and budgeting within the Maintenance Department, which also includes the oversight of the company fleet and mechanics. Duties include, but are not limited to, semi-skilled/skilled maintenance work, janitorial/custodial responsibilities, regulatory inspections, and training of staff and clients, plus administrative responsibilities. The position requires flexibility of scheduling and the ability to respond to after-hours calls. Safety is always a priority.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Allocate workload and supervise department staff (custodians, technicians, mechanics, etc.)
  • Manage relationships with contractors and service providers
  • Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary
  • Monitor major and minor facility systems to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Plan and oversee all repair/installation activities
  • Secure bids for some maintenance, construction, and/or repair projects.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and report on daily activities
  • Maintain and track daily departmental activity
  • Ensure that designated facilities are fit for purpose and provide proactive support/solutions when required
  • Problem-solve potential issues within scope
  • Ensure health and safety policies are complied with
  • Have a basic working knowledge of the following:

Appliances, Auto Mechanics, Construction

Electricity Electronics Heating/Air

Housekeeping Machinery Mechanics

Painting Paper/Filing

  • Collaborate with various departments to support TECH’s mission
  • Effectively communicate
  • Other Duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manager: Maintenance position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Maintenance Department, including but not limited to the Mechanic(s), Maintenance Worker(s), and Custodian(s).

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
