Position Summary
This position is responsible for providing customized employment services to individuals with disabilities, assisting them
in finding and maintaining jobs through job development, coaching, and ongoing support throughout their employment
journey.

Essential Job Duties
 Maintain positive professional working relationships with job seekers, families or guardians, employers, funders,
other service providers, educators, co-workers, and supervisors. Frequent in-person meetings and team
collaborations are required; remote work options are rare and require supervisor approval.
 Develop caring relationships with each individual you work with using lavish praise and positive reinforcement.
 Develop and maintain relationships with area employers through marketing and sales calls to determine
workforce needs.
 Provide customized employment support to job seekers through assistance with assessment of job skills and
interests, resume writing, and customized job search.
 Provide post-employment supports, including job orientation support, transportation coordination, task analysis,
systematic task instruction (job coaching), writing formal accommodation requests, conflict resolution, disability
awareness training of employers, consistent and ongoing follow-up communication with both the employee and
employer, and serving as a liaison for communication between employers and support teams.
 Solicit, document, and utilize consumer and employer feedback on service provision via survey tools.
 Document and communicate pertinent information concerning consumer needs and situations to consumer
representatives, agency-wide staff, funding sources, and other contacts as authorized.
 Report for work punctually and consistently, assuring that absences do not adversely affect the timely completion
of responsibilities or unduly burden co-workers. Accurately record hours worked on timesheet. Occasional
overtime is required.
 Be accessible by cell phone to your caseload of consumers and their employers during your working hours and
during consumers’ individual employment shifts.
 Maintain knowledge of specific physical or mental health symptoms, including medication usage that could
impact employment for some consumers.
 Participate with the Interdisciplinary Team in all aspects of the Person-Centered Planning process.
 Prepare reports as required, such as monthly reports to vocational rehabilitation counselors and weekly
consumer time cards.
 Assure that JobLink's supported employment services are properly compensated by maintaining accurate,
current consumer work schedules in the database and completing weekly consumer timecards accurately.
 Demonstrate zero tolerance for abusive, neglectful, and/or exploitative acts towards individuals served. Report
any suspected incidents according to Cottonwood policies and procedures.
 Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
 High school diploma or equivalent
 Some college preferred
 1 -3 years of experience in customer service or social services
 Familiarity with the Lawrence business community is preferred
 Must have a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to Cottonwood’s insurance carrier.

 Must be able to pass all required background checks and drug screen.

 Ability to work independently and manage a flexible working schedule, including on-call availability to meet
service demands
 Proficient in job coaching and supportive teaching techniques
 Networking and relationship-building abilities

 Strong organizational skills and the ability to self-start tasks
 Proficient in using technology, including email, internet research, and office-related software
 Patience, empathy, and an understanding of disabilities and barriers to employment

Physical Demands
 Constantly required to communicate effectively and exchange accurate information
 Frequently travels to meet with clients and employers
 Frequently operates a computer and other office equipment
 Frequently moves about both within the office and community work environments
 Occasionally transports clients to/from interviews and employment sites
 Occasionally demonstrates physical work tasks that require lifting, bending, reaching, stooping, stretching, etc.

Work Environment
Primarily traveling to meet with clients and employers in the community. Frequently in an indoor office setting with
moderate noise levels.

Supervisory Responsibility
The position has no supervisory responsibilities.
