Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) have the opportunity to empower individuals who have intellectual/developmental disabilities by assisting them in reaching their independence goals. Consistent shifts are available in group home settings (evenings, weekends, or 3rd shift), or day programs (M-F 8a-4p). Responsible to provide training and support to individuals on – basic life skills, building self-esteem and assertiveness, making choices and decisions, improving health and safety awareness, and participating in the community. Requires high school diploma/GED, valid driver’s license, good driving record, and dependable vehicle. Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is beneficial, but not required. Requires good communication skills and the ability to lift 50 lbs or ¼ of own body weight (whichever is less). Attendance at a two-week, weekday, daytime orientation is required – PAID training.
