Job Description

Johnson County Developmental Supports (JCDS) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Service Coordination for their Case Management division.  JCDS serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  We focus on individuals’ abilities, provide choice driven supports, and advocate alongside people to live and work in our community.  We aspire to build a community that promotes, supports, and embraces people of all abilities.  Team Leaders are responsible for coordinating and supervising the delivery of services with JCDS.  First Review of candidates will be Friday, June 13, 2025.

  • Leads the development of a High Performing Organization through active demonstration of the county’s Pillars of Performance, encouraging leadership and empowerment at all levels of the organization; dedicates QII activities for self and staff; actively mentors, coaches and collaborates with employees to enhance the county mission and vision, keeping in mind the common goal of leaving our community better than we found it.
  • Leads the development and implementation of strategic goals for JCDS Case Management Services to ensure a high quality, integrated approach  to case management of persons with developmental disabilities served within JCDS through collaboration with  other JCDS service managers, administrators, community business, funding and licensing agencies by leading workgroups to facilitate the improvement of case management services; develops Case Management rules and processes; monitors Quality Case Management Services and Provider Services-giving and receiving feedback.
  • Leads and enhances staff productivity and morale within JCDS Case Management Services by assigning caseloads to Case Managers; conducts individual Case Manager Supervisor supervision monthly meetings; completes appraisals of Case Manager Supervisor’s performance; works with Case Manager Supervisors who are addressing crisis, ANE, and Critical issues; reviews performance improvement of individual Case Manager Supervisors; reviews and revises Case Manager Position Description and Case Management Manager Supervisor Description Forms; assures case management training needs are being met; assists Case  Managers to address quality issues with providers.
  • Promotes and participates in Best Practice in Case Management Services by maintaining compliance to national accreditation  standards (CQL) for Case Management services; maintains compliance to state licensure standards for case management services; participates in state, local and national professional groups to gain knowledge of industry practices; collaborates with outside groups i.e. Mental Health, KDADS, and Interhab.
  • Manages the effective use of the financial resources for JCDS Case Management Services by leading the establishment of revenue goals for case management; maximizes the efficient and effective management of Case Management Services resources for generated cost-effective benefits; develops, monitors and provides  feedback on monthly and annual fiscal reporting; establishes, revises and reviews monthly cost analysis efforts and analyzing the effect of final resource allocations on programmatic objectives.
  • Provides leadership within and for the entire JCDS agency by contributing to the development and implementation of JCDS CSP Strategic goals and objectives; contributes to the development and implementation of overall agency goals, objectives, strategies and tactics as an active member of the JCDS Leadership Team; collaborates or leads committees or work groups throughout the agency dedicated to providing recommendations and feedback concerning operational aspects of JCDS.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation, Business, Psychology, or relevant field is required.  Five (5) years of human services or relevant field required. One (1) year leading, directing, supervising or coordinating the work of others required.

Five (5) years experience in the IDD field, including knowledge of regulations and funding options; preferably in Kansas, preferred.

Candidate must be able to successfully complete criminal and motor vehicle background screenings, which includes KDADS required screenings and registry checks.
