House Committee Discusses Medicaid Cut to DD Community Services

As regards the current year cuts, the topic was discussed in appropriations committee last week. Some of you may have heard from your legislators about it, and CDDOs received email about it from SRS. Representative Jerry Henry proposed the current year remedy for the Medicaid cuts that InterHab had proposed (using unspent SGF dollars to replace the lost Medicaid match) and most members of the committee were in support of the idea. SRS was asked to survey CDDOs about the matter, and they will report their findings back to the requesting legislators (each of whom represents districts where the proposal is supported). Early indications are that the proposal garnered more than 2/3 support from CDDOs. The matter may be taken up later this week when the House runs the Governor’s rescission bill (which implements the cuts ordered in December).
